About

About Hospital Cost Finder

Hospital Cost Finder is published and maintained by ClayWare, LLC to help people compare listed prices for scheduled hospital care and reach official estimate paths before booking.

What this site does

We use public hospital machine-readable price files, official hospital estimator and price-transparency pages, and CMS hospital information. The site explains one scheduled service and billing code at a time, labels the price type, and shows practical next steps.

Hospital Cost Finder does not provide medical advice, insurance advice, or a promise of what anyone will pay. A hospital or insurer estimate is the better source for a person's expected cost.

How a price page is checked

  • The source row is checked against the configured billing code, code type, modifier, setting, billing class, and match priority.
  • Displayed ranges use one comparable price type; differently labeled prices are kept separate.
  • Recommendations and price-difference statements are generated from the rows visible on the page.
  • Published terminal pages require an external source and a practical hospital estimate or contact path.
  • The content-reviewed date advances only after the page's wording, links, and displayed facts are reviewed.

Read the full price-comparison methodology and source inventory.

How the dates work

  • Source file dated: the date supplied by the hospital file, when one is available.
  • Prices checked: when Hospital Cost Finder imported and checked the matched price rows.
  • Content reviewed: when the page's visible explanation, links, and recommendations were reviewed.

A content-review date is not automatically changed by rebuilding the website.

Corrections

Hospital price files can be difficult to interpret and can change. If a price, billing code, source, or explanation appears wrong, tell us so we can check the public source and correct the page.
